Merge complete

July 16, 2007

merge.gif  Following our marriage late last year, Leslie and I moved into our new house despite the fact that it wasn’t 100% complete.  We emptied my apartment, and then much of her house, transferring the furniture and boxes of assorted “stuff”, and staging it in rooms that we weren’t working in.   Over this past weekend, we made that final cross county trek from her old house to our new one, marking the end of our household merge process.   Heading to her house with an empty truck early Saturday morning, I fully expected to round up the odd contents of a few remaining drawers, pick up the vaccuum and the last of the cleaning supplies, the lawn mower and string trimmer, and that would be that.   Somehow, our final load grew to fill the entire bed of the truck as well as the back seat in the cab.

Stopping for Lunch, Leslie asked me, “How does it feel to have more stuff than you ever knew you needed?”

Congrats! Moving is good for one thing: showing you how much “staff” (dare I say “crap”) one accumulates. I still save receipts for things I bought 5 years ago; my wife saves all her University notes…

Hope you enjoy the moment that has just started in your life!!

That’s great to hear Mark. We need to come out and see the house again soon, I’m sure things are progressing nicely! You guys have a grill and a hankering for some burgers & dogs? 😀
