Push the button

button.gif   Off to lunch with a colleague and good friend.   Deep in conversation, we step into the elevator on the third floor and the doors close.   We continue our conversation for perhaps another 30 seconds and note that we haven’t made any progress, the floor indicator still says “3”.    “You have to push the button” if you want something to happen.    This is true in life as well.   Our conversation was about how when crisis looms that people vow to make changes, but once it passes, how they go back to complacency, until it comes around again.

Ironically, after lunch we got back in the elevator and continued talking.  The doors closed, a few seconds passed, we looked at each other, laughed and both reached for the button….
